Here’s what happens to a new blogger…
- One day they come across a blog that talks about making money online from Adsense or affiliate programs, and they are impressed
- They then immediately create their own blogs, thinking they are going to get as rich as the blogger they read about
- After blogging for 6 months, they wonder why they are not making as much money as they thought they would, and tell themselves they just need more time
- “More time” is a myth, and when they realize how much effort they have been putting compared to how much money they are actually making, they quit.
The wannabe blogger dies a premature death, when success could by right around the corner. I understand that everyone has their own favorite “blogging guru” and there’s nothing wrong with this. However, don’t assume that what works for the guru can work for you. Each individual is different, so why try to imitate someone else?
Just because your favorite guru makes $30,000 seling advertising on his blog, it doesn’t mean that it can work for you too. There are many different ways to make money from your blog, so you’ll need to experiment to get one that suits you.
Here are 7 ways to make money blogging:
- Make money from Adsense – Google Adsense is the most popular way of making money online as you can earn from day one, but typically this method requires you to write great content and get a lot of traffic before you can earn a 4-figure monthly income.
- Make money from banner ads – Similar to Google Adsense, it takes a lot of time before you can see massive results. However, if your blog is already getting a lot of traffic, you can also sell banner ads and use Google Adsense at the same time, and
- Make money from affiliate marketing – Make money when someone buys a product or service through your special link. Requires much less traffic, but you’ll need to understand how to pre-sell effectively. You can create only a handful of new post a month and focus your efforts on getting traffic to the pages with your affiliate link
- Make money selling digital products – Requires very little traffic, but you’ll also need to be a more complete marketer and understand the art of product creation, copy-writing and joint-venture promotion
- Build brand awareness for your business – Are you a consultant or already have an existing business and you just want to get more exposure for it? Then remove ALL forms of advertising on your site, and al you need to do is to provide great content relevant to what it is that you do.
- Book blogging and concept creation – When I published my first physical book (not e-book) I took a lot of the content straight from my blog. If you want to write a physical book, you’ll understand that it’s a tedious task that involves writing content, proofreading and editing. Why not create one chapter at a time on your blog and get feedback from your readers? When you have enough content for a book, just transfer all the content into a publishable format and remove it from your blog. Writing a book is so easy if you do it step-by-step, not to mention that now you have a tons of blog readers who are eager to get your book from the stores!
- Lead capture for offline promotion – Are you in an MLM opportunity, an insurance agency or other types of businesses where you’ll need local prospects to meet and talk to? Then focus your blog to cover only a specific topic and choose your local market carefully. Become the best blog for the particular locality and you’ll get leads pouring in, eager to do business with you.
