Sin #5: Not Getting High-Quality One-Way Links Early

Content is important, but if you want to make money fast you need to get one-way link to your blog as fast as possible. This may mean that you have less time to write content, but here’s my reason for this:

  • SEO takes time – when you get incoming links to your site, it wil take a while before Google and other search engines crawl, index and rank your site. It can take anywhere between 1 week to 3 months for the results to show, so you need to focus on this early on to build a momentum that wil cary you past your first year in blogging
  • It’s more fun when you have traffic – Okay, you’re a great writer and can pump out hundreds of high-quality unique content. But that’s the use if no one ever finds your content? What good is a masterpiece if it isn’t displayed in a galery for everyone to see? Can you be just as determined to write if no one comments on your content, and if no other bloggers are linking to it? Blogging becomes more fun when you have trafic coming in while you’re writing great content.
  • Most bloggers find you in Google – If you want high-profile bloggers to start linking to you, then rest assured that the number one way they are going to find your content is by typing in a search term in Google SEO or Search Engine Optimization is important, but what’s even more important is that you do it early on in your blogging journey so you can reap the benefits fast. If you just focus on the content no one’s ever going to find it, and you’l be a wannabe blogger marching right towards ‘blogging death’.
